Edmonds Serves in the News

For Service Organizations

Edmonds Serves is a new community-wide initiative that celebrates the heart of service in Edmonds.

We are proud to be receiving the first national designation in the country as a “Community of Service” through the National Museum and Center for Service.

Edmonds Serves is bringing nonprofits and service organizations together, highlighting people who serve their community, and inspiring more people to get involved.

What is the goal?

  • To recognize and celebrate all the many people and groups who give of themselves to help others and make Edmonds the special place it is.

  • To highlight your mission and impact in a simple, visible, community-driven way.

  • To inspire new volunteers and contributions, especially among residents who may not know how to get started.

  • To encourage collaboration among nonprofits and service organizations, and to promote efficient use of community resources.

  • To create something unifying and uplifting for our community during a time of national division.

How does it work?

  • Each participating organization will create a poster telling their story of service.

    • There will be two templates to choose from. One template spotlights an individual — either a volunteer or staff member. The other template illustrates a more general story of service from your organization.

  • Upon confirming your participation, you will receive emailed instructions and a link to submit the materials for your poster. The required materials are

    • High resolution photos of the spotlighted individual(s), including photos of them engaging in acts of service

    • A quote from someone connected to your organization

    • A brief text and a heading for the poster

*More details will be included in the instructions.

  • After you submit your materials, The Branding Iron will input them into your chosen template and print your poster. You have choices for poster size and number of copies (see below).

  • Posters will include a QR code that links directly to your website.

What are the poster details and cost?

  • The posters are printed on durable foam core.

  • There is a flat design fee of $20.

  • Two sizes are available:

    • Small: 18x24 inches. $24 per copy (plus tax)

    • Large: 24x32 inches. $42 per copy (plus tax)

  • You have the option of ordering multiple copies of either size.

  • You pay for your own posters, but the return on investment is simple: new volunteers, more awareness, and increased community support.

Where will the posters go?

  • Local businesses will display your posters in a visible location for a minimum of six weeks, from May 30 to July 12.

  • You will be matched with a business and provided contact information to arrange drop-off of your poster before May 30.

    • If you have an existing relationship with a public-facing business and wish to arrange your own match, please let us know right away.

  • Digital files of the posters will also be kept and used in future displays and communications.

What’s the benefit for nonprofits and service organizations who participate?

  • Public visibility across Edmonds.

  • Cross-promotion alongside other service organizations.

  • Increased volunteer recruitment.

  • Celebration of your dedicated members.

  • Being part of a nationally recognized community service initiative.

We missed the informational event on April 15; can we still participate?

  • Yes. Please complete the form below and someone will be in touch.

What’s the timeline?

  • The first round of displays will go up the week of May 30-June 5. If you are learning about this initiative May 30, don’t worry —you can still participate.

  • We are asking businesses to keep the posters up through at least July 12. However, you and your host business may arrange to keep your poster up for longer.

What else do I need to know?

  • A public launch event is scheduled for June 6. You are encouraged but not required to attend. More details soon to come.

  • An Edmonds Serves website is being built: www.edmondsserves.com

    • Your organization and a link to your website will be listed.

    • This will serve as an evergreen extension of the program and a resource for community members seeking ways to contribute as volunteers, donors, etc.

  • This effort is about much more than posters. There will be many more engagement opportunities to come.

What is expected of participating businesses?

  • Display one or more posters for a minimum of six weeks, from May 30-July 12.

  • Once matched, communicate directly with the organization to arrange a time that you can receive the poster(s)

  • Place them in a visible, public-facing area (storefront window, entryway, etc.).

  • Take care that the posters do not get damaged; they are to be returned to the organization after July 12, unless a different arrangement is made between both parties.

  • If you are unable to host a physical poster but have a public-facing monitor, the Edmonds Serves team can arrange to share digital versions for display.

What are the benefits for businesses?

  • You help highlight the heart of Edmonds, the people who serve.

  • You support nonprofits in attracting new volunteers and strengthening the community.
